Drawing upon the long-standing archaeological tradition of the area of Lavreotiki as well as its undeniable natural beauty, Dianthos was named after a beautiful flower, no other than the flower (anthos) of Zeus (Dios) himself (Διός ανθός in Greek), scientifically classified as Dianthus caryophyllus and commonly known as carnation.
