Born on 1905, Kanellopoulos was a very successful Greek industrialist with great business studies abroad. He worked for the Titan company in which he also served as chairman. He was also a member of the board of the National Bank of Greece, chairman of a big company of chemical products and fertilizers and also chairman of the Hellenic Association of Greek Industries. Honoring his name and his significant offer to the city, the Titan company established in the municipality of Eleusina the cultural center "Leonidas Kanellopoulos".
This action was characterized as the heyday proof of Titan’s regard about civilization the needs and perspectives of synchronous Eleusina. The cultural center locates in a fully renovated neoclassical, built around the thirties, at Dragoumis street. The “Patrinouhoyse”, as the building named, is dedicated to Andreas Patrinos’ memory, the first chairman of Titans factory.
Since the inauguration of the cultural center, the Titan company commit itself to organize and host a cultural event at least once a year. In relation to this commitment, five extremely important cultural events were presented here from 2005 to 2009.
Just as all cultural centers, so the ‘Leonidas Kanellopoulos one acts like a basic cultural promoter not only for city’s history but for the whole country’s background.
