Palataki” (= small palace) or “Archontiko” (mansion),close to the church of Agios Nikolaos, probably used to be the most luxurious. The upper level, complete with a tower, was originally built in 1300, whereas the lower level on the side of the original building was added one hundred years later. The three-storey building consisted of a significant number of separate rooms and was decorated with arches, in the typical fashion of a palace or mansion.
Dating to the early 15th century, the “Fragopoulos Mansion” is located next to the monastery of Pantanassa. Similarly to the Palaces and Archontiko, the owners’ wealth and good taste is supposed to be reflected in the number of successive arches that adorn the façade of the mansion.
The “Laskaris Mansion” belonged to the famous homonymous family of the Byzantine empire. The building is close to the Central Gate of Mystras, and it is quite peculiar in that we find its façade on the narrow side of its parallelogram shape, facing the north. The elegant building extends into a large balcony, while the lot is brimming with a number of decorative elements.
