Everything in Psatha refers to an exotic island or better to heaven! Psatha is a 2,5 kilometers long beach, which is offered for swimming in the crystal blue waters, for sunbathing under the unique sun of Greece, for a marine exploration by renting a canoe and generally for a relaxed excursion even for the local residents! Accommodation facilities such as traditional taverns and coffee shops are available quite close to the beach and the visitors have the chance to taste fresh fishes and sea food or drink their coffee while enjoying the view of the beach and the mountain across.
According to the folklore tradition, the name “Psatha” came from the “psathi”, a famous plant that grows almost in all region and looks like a straw. Moreover, as per Pausanias, the great Greek traveler and geographer, and his work “Description of Greece” – “Hellados Periegesis” the place also has a great historical past! In antiquity Psatha’s bay was a big port named “Panormos” which belonged to “Pages” the previous name of modern’s - day place called ‘Alepoxori”. After excavations, archaeologist revealed the acropolis of the city and a temple. Moreover, historical facts and mythological traditions are relevant with Kithairon mount.
