Common beliefs, practices and customs are the main core of different events during the celebration. Theatrical and musical performances, traditional songs and dances with numerous dances which wear tradition costumes and art exhibitions are just the beginning! Gastronomy as well, couldn’t be absent from this celebration! Showcasing of local products as the homegrown pistachios and olive oil, cooked foods by old housewives, constitutes the other aspect of the festival. Local clubs and the municipality are in charge for festival’s events which all based on city’s tradition and its customs!
A "folklore month" as Eleusinians call June, is a –one month- celebration which unity the residents and provokes a sense of proudness. Maria Karellou, the organizer of the festival emphasizes the importance of the institution either for the city’s external highlighting or for the resident’s deep knowledge for their cultural background. It is certainly an ideal proposal for all of us!
It is best history lesson for all ages because it combines knowledge with entertainment! Every participant is a unique cultural conveyor who promotes the values and the ideals of his place. Recent years, more and more cities organize such an event supporting that the contact with our cultural identity will be the most powerful weapon in the modern material world.
