The new Acropolis museum established in 2009. If we could take a look at both of them, Acropolis complex and the museum, from above, we would immediately realize that they are as aesthetically interconnected as they can be. The museum has more than 4.250 objects, from the archaic period to the late Roman period and is continuously exhibiting many external collections of ancient Greek artifacts. In only one year, from June 2012 to June 2013, the museum welcomed more than one million visitors!
Its location is the best possible in terms of proximity to transportation means. It is located right next to the homonymous metro station, on the Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, just few meters away from Plaka, Theseion and Monastiraki. The building itself is considered to be both highly practical and extremely beautiful. The light inside the building is everywhere. It is as if we are entering in a magical world of remembrance and knowledge. We can choose between different activities, from exhibition programs and gallery talks, to 3D projections and special tours for children and parents or pupils and teachers. We can surely find many educational programs and a vast variety of learning resources.
