The traditional village of Sinarades is 13 km away from the city of Corfu and belongs to the municipal unit of Parelioi. It is especially known for the unique, local architecture which is obvious to the all type of villages’ buildings even in churches. More specifically, the village counts 12 churches, among which, the one of Aghios Nikolaos and Aghios Spyridonas, distinguished by a royal temple and frescoes of great artistic value. The church also has an ecclesiastic organ originated from Italy. However, the dense houses' construction is the most common feature of the village. The stone houses, roof tiles in the color of ochre, small doors with embossed marbles, exterior stairways, which end up to a veranda, the so-called “bonjo” and of course, the arches on the ground-floor of the houses, are exactly the core of Corfiot countryside architecture. This is why, the village has declared as traditional settlement.
It is also known about its beautiful landscapes, especially large expanses full of olive trees and cypresses. It is no coincidence that the former name of the village was "Axinarades", because the villagers were mainly farmers. Picturesque beaches as “Ai Gordis” and “Gialiskari”, the “Aerostato” spot, with the spectacular view, and of course the verdant islet of “Kyra Dikia”, which was named after the church of the island, dedicated to Virgin Mary.
