Along with the thought “I am going back to my roots”, Claudia Papayianni in 2003 started setting up the vineyards and winery. Choosing the region of Arnaia, her fathers’ homeland, she followed her dream by starting the winery from scratch. Her love for aromas, different flavors, the idea of creation and agriculture planting lead her to the current Claudia Papayianni Domaine. The initial philosophy was the production of high quality ‘terroir’ wines, having the seal of local characteristics based on the principles of organic farming. Today, after 15 years of operation, the winery managed to set in local market with stunning critics and to exports abroad almost half of the total production.
The grounds and the climate of the mountainous Chalcidice have been proved as the most appropriate choice for wine making. Arnaia has a continental climate with heavy rainfalls almost for half of the year, dry summers and suitable temperature coming from the surrounding forest. Taking advantage of these natural conditions, the vineyard and the modern equipped winery have been formed accordingly to local demands. For example, a telemetric meteorological station which can forecast vine diseases, the daily human occupation, the producers’ growing knowledge and experience contribute to the slow and normal maturation of grapes.
The Claudia Papayiannis wines have been awarded with gold and silver medals in competitions both in Greece and abroad. Most known labels are: “Domaine Claudia Papayianni”, “Alexandra”, “Nikolas”, “C.P.” and “Ex Arnon”.
