Argolid is a blessed land. The particularity of the soil and its proximity to the sea combined with the temperate climate offer products of excellent quality. The abundant produce gives the impression that nature is constantly in springtime mode. All kinds of fruit are cultivated in Nafplio as tangerines, lemons, apricots, pomegranates, melons, watermelons. Nevertheless, the oranges of the region are of an exceptional quality and exquisite taste and were named, and rightly so, the "gold of Argolid". This is why the products of the Agricultural Cooperative of women from Nea Kios are so famous, but also of other small producers that make fruit preserves (the so-called "spoon sweets") and marmalades. Another famous product of superb quality is the Iria artichoke that is produced on extensive fields and is a special treat. The olive oil of the area is also famous, originating from the olive groves of Kranidi.
The mild climate favours the vineyards for the cultivation of the varieties Athiri, Lagothri, Malagouzia, Moschofilero (Mantineia), Roditis, Cabernet Aspoudes, Kaliannato, Mavroudi. This is why traditional wineries and beverages' factories have flourished in the region.
It seems that when the Bavarians came to Nafplio they established the popularity of beer. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that this is the place where the beer "Zeos" is produced that has been awarded for its taste and quality. In Nafplio, one can find local products, manufactured and distributed exclusively in the region by workshops like "Apotanapli", "Mallios", "Moraitika Pasta" that make traditional and sour crumbled pasta (trahanas). "Graviera Argolidas" produces a hard gruyère cheese from sheep's milk. "Sweet Temptation" makes traditional macarons. "Oikotechnia" produces its homemade cherry syrup. And finally, the unique Greek factory "Nectar" processes Greek coffee in Nafplio and also Mycenae.
