Today ceramics not only reveal vast knowledge of our ancestors but it turn out to be a modern art that produce contemporary creations.
The island of Corfu has to demonstrate a wealth of ancient ceramic objects found during excavations on the archaeological sites. The “Kerkyraeanamphoras”, as well as figurines and all the necessary clay household equipment are found in the archaeological site of Figaretoat Kanoni peninsula. According to historians the site was a pottery workshop, the“Kerameikos”. All of Corfu’s ceramic findings are hosted to the Museum of Ceramic Art which is located in the New Fortress of the island.
